Water Engineer 1 with Arcadis U.S., Inc. (Buffalo, NY)
Evaluate, plan, design, and support the management of projects for municipal wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water treatment and conveyance (pipelines and pumping facilities). Prepare and review engineering design reports, technical calculations, technical memorandums, client letters, design drawings, and contract specifications. Assess, develop, and support the management of sustainability and resilience projects, including vulnerability and mitigation assessments and planning and design for utilities, municipalities, and cities. Perform fieldwork activities – condition assessment, site visits, water quality analysis, technology evaluations, plant operations information, process troubleshooting, and optimization. Prepare work details and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives including process equipment. Support Asset Management projects performing data analytics, operational and organizational assessments, condition assessments, and overall performance evaluations of water/wastewater/stormwater facilities. Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and technical quality, health and safety standards, and facilitate coordination for timely completion of projects on time and budget.
Qualifications & Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering field. The position requires 1 year of related experience, which must include some experience in each of the following skills: Hydraulic Institute Standards or other relevant tools and technologies used in pump station design, pump sizing and selection; Perform hydraulic and pipe sizing calculations; Perform data analytics and provide design recommendations for equipment used in water and wastewater processing; Prepare basis of design reports, equipment selection/analysis technical memorandums, project specifications, project update presentations, and other supporting materials for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, pump stations and other capital improvement projects; Detailed equipment for estimating water and wastewater
infrastructure project costs; and Autodesk AutoCAD for drawing preparation.
Offered Wage: $58,469 to $92,077 per year.
