Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Water Quality Engineer to join our National Resilience Water Team in New York, NY!

The Water Quality Engineer will utilize their technical expertise in water quality and water treatment to support our national Lead and Copper team in proactively providing regulatory guidance and direction for water treatment and water quality compliance.

Role accountabilities:

This role will lead and support activities to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal environmental rules and laws related to drinking water systems, including routine inspections and preparation of inspection reports; permit writing; and the review and approval of engineering plans, specifications, and reports.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist in resolving complex issues that can involve technical engineering issues and
    regulatory compliance issues.
  • Assist stakeholders in understanding and complying with state and federal environmental rules through outreach efforts.
  • Manage tasks and projects including control of scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Conduct Lead Service Line (LSL) Inventories; support LSL Replacement (LSLR) plan development, public education and outreach, and construction management and oversight.
  • Support Funding and Grant Management efforts for various lead and copper initiatives.
  • Perform sampling and monitoring programs, including field data collection; laboratory analysis and coordination; and data management and reporting.
  • Support Corrosion Control Treatment studies, tests, and implementation plans.
  • Technical research surrounding alternative water treatment systems and solutions.
  • Research, review, and analyze water quality policy and regulations.
  • Review and assess compliance methodologies employed at a facility and provide feedback and creative solutions to reduce overall risk of non-compliance.
  • Travel may be required (up to 25%) for project visits, client meetings, or conferences.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • 7 years of engineering experience focused on water quality and compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • PE License.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong focus and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
  • Strong database management, data visualization skills, dashboard development, and data reporting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of engineering experience focused on water quality compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to drinking water compliance, specifically the Lead and Copper Rule

The salary range for this position is $103,000 – $154,000.
