Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer with at least 7 years of experience to join our growing Resilience Water Team in Orlando or Jacksonville, Florida! We offer a flexible hybrid work culture with balance between remote and in-office work.
We are looking for self-driven, creative, and energetic individual interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions to address water issues like quality, scarcity, reuse, distribution, management, and resilience.
This role provides rapid growth and development opportunities; collaborating with other experienced Water Professionals, you will support, manage, and drive development of projects, interact, and work with clients, and develop your technical and professional capabilities.
Role accountabilities:
This role will lead tasks and projects from planning to design and construction of Water/Wastewater distribution/collection systems, pump/lift stations, and/or treatment plants.
Other responsibilities include:
- Perform complex engineering analyses and design calculations.
- Develop design and construction documents (i.e., reports, technical memoranda, specifications) and cost estimates.
- Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling using a variety of software.
- Use ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD.
- Support construction administration of projects.
- Work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams.
- Based on experience, serve as Project Manager (or Assistant Project Manager) on projects.
- Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
- Travel (up to 25%) may be required to conduct project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or the ability to gain a license within 1 year of hiring.
Key Skills and Abilities
- Motivated and self-starter.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills, with ability to clearly communicate whether in person, virtually or through written communications.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about technical challenges.
- Proficient in relevant design and modeling software, increased understanding, and ability to use system more effectively.
- Experience with software such as Bentley WaterGEMS or SewerGEMS, InfoWater, Arc GIS, etc.
- Produce complex reports and direct junior staff.
- Demonstrate a strong ability to work on a task with little or no direct oversight.
- Excellent time and workload management skills.
- Safety mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
- 2 years of experience in local Orlando or Jacksonville municipal water markets.
- Project Management experience is preferred.
- Master of Science or Master of Engineering in related field.
- Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
- NASSCO PACP/MACP/LACP Certification.
- Functional experience with MS Office applications.

We offer seven paid holidays and potentially up to two floating holidays per calendar year depending on start, and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $82,400 – $123,600 / year.
