Job Description
The Academic Enterprise Communications team at Arizona State University is seeking a talented and versatile web developer who will work closely with members of the team to design, create, develop, enhance and maintain web content, tools, functionality and format in accordance with established ASU web standards, guidelines and best practice methods.
Working Environment
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate verbally to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field AND 3 years web and database experience which includes creating and updating table structures and views as well as CSS development; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Reporting to the executive vice president and university provost at Arizona State University, the Academic Enterprise Communications team is responsible for designing and executing communication strategies that:
- Advance the strategic goals of the Office of the University Provost and Academic Enterprise.
- Achieve enrollment goals at the undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly for on-campus students.
- Support student retention and persistence to graduation goals.
- Engage and enrich the academic community of faculty and academic personnel.
- Enhance the national and global reputation of the Academic Enterprise.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and work in a team environment.

- Experience with Drupal or WordPress theme development
- Experience with Drupal module or WordPress plugin development
- Demonstrated knowledge with Agile development
- Experience withGoogle Tag Manager and Analytics. SEO best practices
- Experience withWeb application development using modern JavaScript and/or React, and PHP
- Experience withWeb accessibility best practices for WCAG 2.1 compliance
- Experience with HTML5, CSS3
- Experience with Git and GitHub, especially working with multiple branches
- JIRA or similar ticketing system
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapt to changing requirements, and learn new technologies as needed.
- Experience in work that requires attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in system designs, documentation, and implementation.
- Evidence of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.

Essential Duties
- Develops web forms, templates, database-driven web pages, new web tools and dynamic areas within web pages designed to enhance, sustain and support ideas and vision of the area in compliance with established styles and standards
- Customizes forms and integrate APIs within the system.
- Develops and manages custom modules and plugins, CMS theming and site building.
- Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations
- Effectively communicates and collaborates with team members, clients and stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Maintains technical currency and take advantage of professional development opportunities.
- Ability to complete projects with minimal supervision and direction.
- Adheres to software development lifecycle principles and standard methodologies.
- Researchs and evaluates emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to identify opportunities for improving system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Creates and maintains technical documentation, including system designs, architecture diagrams, and user guides.
- Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
