I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
GW Communications & Marketing is seeking a Web Associate to build and update websites for GW schools and administrative units. As a member of the Office of Communications and Marketing, the Web Associate works closely with the school and unit Web Leads, ensuring websites are current and conform to GW standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Building and updating GW websites using the GW Drupal and GW Blogs (WordPress) content management systems
- Ensuring website content is up-to-date, accurate, and free of errors such as typos and broken links
- Ensuring websites meet GW’s visual identity and digital accessibility standards
- Providing support to end users via email and virtual office hours
- Publishing web content across multiple systems, such as the University Calendar, digital signage, or mobile applications
- Assisting the web development team with testing and troubleshooting
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with digital accessibility
- Familiarity with interpreting web analytics using software like Google Analytics
- Understanding of web content strategy, search engine optimization, and digital accessibility best practices
- Experience working in higher education
- Familiarity with Drupal and/or WordPress
- Experience building websites on a content management system such as Drupal or WordPress
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS
- Ability to manage and prioritize day-to-day tasks with larger ongoing projects
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with users of all experience levels
Typical Hiring Range
$44,630.84 – $61,410.65 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
