Job Description
The Marketing and Communications department with the W. P. Carey School of Business is looking for a Web Content Strategist to coordinate and implement web and marketing content strategies. This position will ensure messaging and design consistency and compatibility with standards and branding and explore new opportunities for enhancing websites and digital marketing content, including landing pages and emails for student recruitment, program marketing, and alumni engagement. The selected candidate will leverage research and analytics tools to develop data-informed content recommendations for the department and college.
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%) Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%) Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions. Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Flexible work options
- Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field AND three years of communication/marketing experience; OR, Seven years of communications/marketing experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience writing for websites and SEO
- Experience writing/editing HTML and using content management systems (e.g., Drupal, WordPress)
- Experience modifying content as needed for different channels and audiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge of AP style and applying brand standards
- Experience creating multimedia content and marketing emails
- Experience using qualitative and quantitative data to make informed content decisions (e.g., Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Moz, Hotjar)
- Experience working with designers and developers
- Experience using Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Drive
- Experience managing projects and using project management systems (e.g., Wrike, Airtable)
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic communications planning systems and implementation
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of web technology related to marketing communication
- Demonstrated knowledge of design principles with respect to aesthetic fundamentals, audience identification, readability, and persuasive principles to apply to communications resulting in high quality, results-driven design
- Experience in planning and implementing communications programs
- Experience in composing, editing, and proofreading written materials
- Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities

Essential Duties
- Researches, creates, edits, and modifies web content in order to develop, implement, and enhance the marketing, public relations, and communication efforts of the department(s); reviews content for timeliness and archives information as appropriate
- Seeks fresh materials from appropriate sources; enhancing the look, usefulness, consistency, and content of the website
- Works collaboratively with departments to gather information and materials for presentation on the web. This includes news items and special events
- Reviews, edits, and monitors web content produced by various departments
- Monitors consistency of messages and coordinates content of all publications in conjunction with university and department guidelines
- Writes and edits web content so that it is effective and strategically consistent with our institutional messages
- Executes modifications or changes in graphic presentation within the established guidelines, working collaboratively with the digital team
- Monitors and verifies uniformity of information per specified branding goals
- Collaborates with designers and technical staff on how best to translate copy and graphics direction from other media to the website
- Maintains competitive analysis of both internal and external sites and advises on opportunities for further enhancement and development of web pages, including SEO and user experience (UX)
- Troubleshoots potential marketing and web content problems, including frequent proactive reviews of content; working collaboratively with the technical staff
- Coordinates and verifies prompt posting of website communications submitted by departmental staff
- Guides and trains internal users in organizing information for the web and how to write effective web content
- Assume or coordinate other duties, including managing projects, as assigned or directed
- Performs other duties as assigned
