I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University (GW) Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship is housed under the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. The office provides programming around innovation, education, venture creation, and making connections to support GW entrepreneurs and the Mid-Atlantic startup community.

The Web Developer Apprentice will be responsible for building and testing aesthetic, functional, and user-friendly websites in addition to managing the office’s data and software. The ideal candidate has excellent technical skills, is a systems thinker, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and is a self-starter. The candidate enjoys a fast pace and variety in work, close collaboration with a small team that is mission-driven, results driven and community oriented.

The Web Developer Apprentice has the ability to work independently on projects and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities. The ideal candidate has an ability to translate complex problems clearly and in both technical and non-technical terms.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with designers, content providers, and management.
• Implement and ensure website security and data protection.
• Overhaul current website layout to improve user functionality and experience.
• Organize, store, and analyze the office’s data to develop dashboards and predictive insights.
• Vet, select and manage technical vendors for various office needs.
• Roll out, implement, and train staff on new platforms.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Typical Hiring Range
$19.09 – $26.25 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
