Youth Mentor – Days

What is a Youth Mentor?

A Youth Mentor works with students in our small scale classrooms on our residential campus and our community Education Center. They walk alongside the children in our care as they receive treatment, education and work towards goals specific to their needs. All the children in our care have experienced serious trauma. Because of that, they have some intense behavioral issues. They come to us for the therapeutic treatment plans our teams create and implement. Day shift Youth Mentors work in our classrooms assisting Teachers, carrying out lessons and supporting students in the education environment. Youth Mentors participate in a variety of outdoor activities with the kids: basketball, volleyball, hiking, fishing, and rollerblading, to name a few! Other activities could include movies, games, drawing and other hobbies the kids enjoy. Youth Mentors are role models for children and are able to meet them where they are at in their phase of treatment. They build quality relationships and set healthy boundaries using a Trauma Informed Care approach. The Youth Mentors are critical to the successful treatment process for these children.
