Zoo Worker Visitor Services – Rides and Experiences
Hourly Pay Range: $9.75 – 18.05

Job Summary: The Zoo Worker in the Rides and Experiences department provides patrons with rides and experiences through great customer service. The rides and experiences team operate the Train, Sky Adventure, Rentals, Carousel, Zoo Expeditions, vending, and ticket sales at Sky Glide. To deliver great customer service to our guests, the Zoo worker will need to provide up-to-date knowledge on zoo exhibits, pricing and rates, and a friendly delivery of the services we provide.
AVAILABILITY: Availability to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required.
Job Responsibilities
- Delivery of Great Customer Service – Providing timely, attentive, accurate, upbeat service to Zoo patrons, and making sure their needs are met in a manner that reflects positively on the Milwaukee County Zoo.
- Ticket Sales, Cash Handling and Point of Sale – To properly handle cash. The expectation is amounts will be verified and the customer transaction will be recorded in the Point of Sale system. Disbursement of change to patrons.
- Zoo Grounds and Work Area Upkeep, Maintenance and Cleaning – Cleaning and picking up of small debris within the park to ensure a better and cleaner experience for our patrons. Includes immediate work areas, picnic areas, Zoo pathways and employee work areas. Reports maintenance issues to supervisor for remedy. Effectively and efficiently performs opening and closing duties of assigned position.
- Rides and Experience Operations (Train, Carousel, Sky Adventure Zip Line and Ropes Courses, and Zoomobile) – The operations of rides and experiences includes operating the rides, learning of safety procedures, assisting of guests on and off rides, and providing intro speeches to guests about safety during the ride or experience.
- Lead Worker – May lead less experienced Zoo workers in day-to-day tasks of Rides and Experiences.
- Ability to safely operate golf carts, vehicles, point of sale equipment, photocopiers, basic office tools, and various small hand tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experience
- Eligible applicants must be at least 16 years of age upon application
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
- Previous work experience with cashiering or money handling preferred
- Previous work experience in Customer Service preferred
